The Citizens For Change petition proposing an alternate form of county government in Uintah County has been certified but what does that mean and where can the proposed plan be found to view? Uintah County distributed a press release on Thursday sharing that “the Clerk-Auditor’s Office received 48 signature packets related to the petition. Following a review of the submitted signatures, the office determined that the petition met the signature requirements established in Utah Code…including obtaining the required 2,101 valid signatures distributed across at least 75 percent of the county’s participation areas.” As a result, the petition has been formally certified and a copy of the proposed optional plan has been provided to the Uintah County Commission and Uintah County Attorney for review. “Certification of the petition verifies that the statutory signature requirements have been met. It does not constitute approval or adoption of the proposed form of government.” Four public hearings will be held in order to receive public comment.
