Pedestrian Killed Following High School Football Game In Craig

A pedestrian lost his life on Friday night after being struck by two vehicles while crossing Highway 40 in Craig. According to the Craig Police Department, officers were dispatched to a vehicle pedestrian crash at 9:18pm on preliminary information that 2 separate vehicles struck an adult male who was crossing the Victory Way area of Highway 40. The adult male was pronounced deceased on the scene. Craig Police Chief Mike Cochrane gave an interview to the Craig Daily Press and reported that the pedestrian was not in a marked crosswalk at the time of the collision and the drivers of both vehicles were juveniles under the age of 18 who were legal drivers. Initial investigation indicated that neither speed nor alcohol were factors for either driver. The Chief shared that many young people were in the area at the time because this happened just after the high school football game had ended and it was horrible not only for the two drivers but for many witnesses. Highway 40 was closed for several hours during the emergency response and following investigation. On Sunday, the pedestrian was identified as 66-year-old David Powell of Craig.
