Roosevelt City Seeking Nominations of Citizens Who Go the Extra Mile

National Extra Mile Day is coming up and Roosevelt City has big plans to celebrate. The City announced this week that they are accepting nominations of citizens who have gone the extra mile in serving the Roosevelt City community. From the pool of nominations, Roosevelt City Council will present three Extra Mile Day awards to deserving individuals for “going the extra mile to make Roosevelt a great place to live, work, and play.”

A hardworking senior at Uintah High School has been named as a semifinalist in a prestigious scholarship program. Emily Despain was one of more than 1.6 million Juniors from about 22,000 high schools across the United States that took the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test during her Junior year.

Boone Draw Fire Continues Burning West of Craig

Firefighters continue to work on the Boone Draw Fire 50 miles West of Craig. According to the Northwest Colorado Fire Management Unit, the Boone Draw Fire is over 6,000 acres and is burning on BLM and private land in pinyon-juniper, grass, and some sage in the southwestern portion of the fire. At last report, the fire was at 5 percent contained.
