The Uintah School Board has filled the District 2 vacancy created by the realigned district boundaries. The Board met on Thursday and appointed Denise Maynard by unanimous vote as the newest board member.

Vernal Rotary Club Announces Biliblanket Project
The Vernal Rotary Club looks to meet needs in the community and their most recent project will make a massive difference in the lives of local infants and their families. A special meeting was held on Thursday during which the Rotary Club presented Ashley Regional Medical Center with funds for biliblankets to treat neonatal jaundice in newborns.

Water is a precious commodity and the state of Utah is ready to meter more of the state’s secondary water. Metering secondary water was first put into law a few years ago but at that time certain rural counties were excluded, including those in the Uintah Basin.

The Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity is asking Utahns to take part in a second internet speed test. The Utah Internet Speed Test Campaign is a statewide initiative for Utahns to self-report their internet speed at home, work, or wherever they’re connected to the internet.
DWR Reminds Public: Do Not Feed Wildlife
Deer have been spotted all throughout the city of Vernal. The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources would like to remind everyone that it is highly discouraged to feed the wild. When wildlife are fed they will frequently return to the area. This leads to wildlife being in conflict with humans and such things increase accident traffic.

2021 was a busy year for the Roosevelt City Fire Department. Their annual report states that in 2021, the Roosevelt City Volunteer Fire Department responded to 162 fire calls.
Spring Burning At The Pariette Wetlands In Uintah County
The Bureau of Land Management has announced that they will be doing prescribed burning in Uintah County this month. The Vernal Field Office plans to implement the Pariette Prescribed Fire at the western portion of the Pariette Wetlands, southwest of Ouray and Pelican Lake through the end of the month.

All women are invited to a special uplifting conference next weekend at the Vernal Middle School. The Interfaith Council has put together the ‘Vernal Christian Women’s Conference’ to be held next Saturday which is all about bringing women together to enjoy speakers, musical numbers, and a service project.
US Forest Service Issues Avalanche Warning
The Utah Avalanche Center has increased the current avalanche danger ratings from moderate to considerable throughout Utah. Specifically in the Uintas, that moderate danger is found above the tree line on the slopes facing the north half of the compass. It is where both new and older wind drifts rest on top of weak snow.
