Uintah School District Retains Students
The launch of the new school year has gone smoothly in the Uintah School District. According to Superintendent Mark Dockins, the district had no hiccups on the first days and while there are no solid numbers yet, enrollment is about where they hoped.

New Bridge Construction Underway on SR-45
UDOT has started construction on the new bridge on SR-45 south of Vernal that will allow the southernmost stretch of roadway to reopen. According to the UDOT announcement on Thursday, the 157-foot bridge will span an eroded mining trench to reconnect the road and allow the highway to reopen by mid-December.

Vernal Man Arrested for Stealing Elderly Landlord’s Identity
A Vernal man has been arrested on multiple counts of credit card fraud, forgery, identity theft, theft and burglary charges. 36-year-old Jonathan Betancourt was arrested on August 13th after an elderly woman and her daughter found an overwhelming amount of suspicious activity on the elderly victim’s bank account.
Celebrate the Night Sky with Dinosaur National Monument

Pursuit for Trails System Continues
A connected trail system in the Ashley Valley could become a reality thanks to a collaboration effort for grant funding. Earlier this year, the project was awarded a UDOT grant of $350,000 dollars with approximately $100,000 of that to be used to develop an urban plan for Vernal and Naples and the remaining funds to address the rest of Uintah County.
