Dinosaur National Monument provides some of the best views for stargazing and Monument staff are facilitating the best view possible. Rangers and volunteers will offer “naked-eye constellation tours” at the Split Mountain Campground on August 26th and 27th at 9:00pm. The “naked-eye” tours will be followed by a telescope tour of the sky that will include close views of planets, stars, nebula and galaxies. “While the skies over Dinosaur National Monument remain naturally dark, the majority of Americans cannot see the Milky Way or other night sky features from their homes anymore due to light pollution,” shares Chief of Visitor Services Dan Johnson.
