Trailer Fire in Uintah County

Crews responded to a fire in Uintah County on Tuesday. According to Fire Marshal Jeremy Raymond, the fire occurred around 5:30am and crews from Vernal City and Uintah County Fire Departments responded. The structure fire was located at approximately 1000 South 3700 West.

Uintah 12U Baseball Team Impresses in Cooperstown Tournament

A group of local baseball sluggers worked hard to make their dreams a reality over the last year. After a year of skill building and fundraising, the Uintah 12U baseball team traveled to Cooperstown, New York last week for an intense tournament and amazing experience. The team placed 10th overall out of 50 teams from all over the nation.

Prop 1 Likely on 2017 Ballot

Proposition 1 is expected to be included on the 2017 election ballot in Uintah County. According to Uintah County Commissioner Duane Shepherd, Naples City and Ballard have both formally submitted their request to the county that Prop 1 be included. Vernal City Council approved their own resolution to request it back in May.

UBTech Carpentry Project a Hot Commodity

When Lacey Phillips got a look at her son’s carpentry project at UBATC she was immediately interested. Dakota Smuin was taking a Carpentry class from instructor Trent Tomlinson and was among the first of the Uintah High School students to work on the hunting cabin project.

Public Hearing Held on Uintah County Certified Tax Rate

The Uintah County Commission meeting was packed on Monday as public comment was taken on the 2017 Certified Tax Rate. The overwhelming feedback from the public was the belief that the Commission should cut the budget and not place further burden on the taxpayers. “These are hard times” was a common statement accompanied by the call for the county to join with business and property owners and cut back in order to make it through.
