Officer Involved Shooting in Western Colorado

A Critical Incident Response Team is investigating an officer involved shooting that occured
on Sunday afternoon
in western Colorado’s Mesa County. According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office, two BLM officers approached a white van in the desert near the Bookcliffs in Mesa County and 27 ¼ Road and an officer involved shooting took place. “One BLM officer was shot in the vest and was taken to the hospital as a precaution but is expected to be OK,” shares the Sheriff’s Office. “Preliminary information indicates a BLM officer was able to return fire and the suspect was killed in the incident. The suspect’s identity will be released once it is confirmed by the Mesa County Coroner’s Office and next of kin has been notified.” The Critical Incident Response Team is seeking information on the white van and the suspect involved.
