A woman was life-flighted from Ashley Regional Medical Center on Wednesday after a
terrifying assault during which her estranged husband entered her apartment and stabbed
her repeatedly. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, officers had responded to
calls that day that 26-year-old Jesus Jose Trevizo had been seen driving around his
estranged wife’s apartment complex which was a violation of a protective order. Officers
responded but initially Trevizo was not found. On a follow up visit, an officer pulled up
and was waved over and told that Trevizo was inside the apartment right then. The officer
could hear muffled screams and opened a back bedroom door where he observed Jesus
Trevizo crouched over his estranged wife who was partially naked, covered in blood, and
begging for help. Trevizo stepped away from her and she was able to exit the room while
Trevizo was instructed to get on down. He was placed in handcuffs and a multitool
pocket knife was removed from his waistband. Trevizo said, “We’re married”, several
times to the officer. He was secured in the patrol vehicle. While in the ambulance, it was
observed that the victim had a folded up pocket knife stuck in her hair and there was a
blade broken off and embedded in her head. While in the emergency room it was found
that there were many deep lacerations to the victim’s head, chin, and neck. One of the
lacerations took 9 staples to seal. It was also found that part of one of her thumbs was
missing. Officers stated in the probable cause document that there was too much blood to
get an accurate count of lacerations and penetrating stab wounds. The victim asked about
her children, saying that they had run from the apartment. It was found that they had run
to a nearby church for help and were currently safe with a family member. Due to the
severity of the victim’s wounds, it was determined she needed to be flown to the city for
further care. While investigating, officers found that the front door of the apartment had
been kicked in. Jesus Jose Trevizois was booked into jail on charges of Attempted
Homicide, Aggravated Burglary, Domestic Violence in the Presence of Children,
Violation of a Protective Order, and Property Damage.
