North Myton Fire Contained

A fire that began Tuesday afternoon northeast of Myton was contained thanks to the efforts of 9 agencies. According to the North Myton Fire Unified Command, which is composed of fire officials from state, tribal, county, and local departments, the North Myton Fire started at about 3:00pm and burned an estimated 30 to 50 acres on private and tribal land roughly 2 miles northeast of Myton. “Mop up operations were about 75 percent complete as of 8:30pm Tuesday, with crews expected to continue operations Tuesday night and Wednesday,” shared fire officials. “No structures are threatened and no injuries have been reported.” The 9 agencies that worked together to contain the fire included firefighters from Myton, Duchesne, Altamont, Roosevelt, Neola, Lapoint, Tridell, Avalon, the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands, and the Bureau of Indian Affairs Forestry and Wildland Fire. Officials said the cause of the fire is unknown.
