The North Carolina man who was charged, arrested, and released for forging signatures in Uintah County for the Proposition 4 ballot initiative has accepted a plea deal and will avoid jail time. Between December 30, 2025, and January 19, 2026, Chadwick Kluttz was in Uintah County gathering signatures as an employee of a signature gathering company. The Probable Cause Statement shares that “Officers spoke to 9 individuals that had packets that were signed in their name. The individuals all confirmed that it was not their signature and they did not authorize anyone to sign the packet on their behalf. 2 of the individuals who had signed packets were dead and had died prior to the date the packet showed as being signed. [Chadwick Kluttz] had signed the packets with his name certifying that he had properly gathered the signatures.” 40-year-old Chadwick Kluttz was charged with 11 counts of 3rd Degree Felony Forgery and 11 counts of Misdemeanor ‘Unlawfully Sign Certificate of Nomination Signature Sheet’. He has since entered a plea in abeyance, avoiding jail time. All of his charges were dismissed with prejudice except 2 counts of Forgery that he entered no-contest to. After 24 months, the charges can be dismissed if he follows the terms of the agreement.
