The halls of the new Union High School are officially broke in with the first week of school a success. Duchesne County School District Student Services Director Scott Forsyth reports that the transition to the new high school has been smooth and students are showing great pride and respect for their new educational home. “The school seems quieter because there is more space for the students to spread out. Students are also helping keep the hallways clean and taking ownership of the school. There seems to be a renewal of school pride that we were hoping to see,” shares Forsyth. The count for this school year is 1,050 students from 9th through 12th grade which is up 100 students from last year. The school was built to accommodate growth and the new incoming classes at Roosevelt Junior High are around 300 students. This means the student body at the high school will grow to around 1,300 students within the next three years, estimates Forsyth, putting the high school on pace to what they thought they would need when considering plans for the new high school.
