Evans Family Media is providing the opportunity to get educated ahead of the upcoming primary election through the Meet The Candidate Radio Series. John Laursen, who is running for Uintah County Commission Seat A, was the guest on the May 26th program. After his service in the Marines, Laursen enjoyed a long career in law enforcement, much of which was with the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office, including 10 years as Chief Deputy under Sheriff Jeff Merrell. During his interview, Laursen shared that he believes the most pressing issue for Uintah County is addressing the relationship between county employees and the county as an employer, stating that the contention needs to stop. As a Commissioner, his goal would be open communication so every employee would feel comfortable walking in to talk to the Commissioners. Laursen also addressed the topics of employee benefits, the optional 401K, and SB162 regarding the clerk auditor’s role versus a budget officer.
