Medical Marijuana Dispensaries Set for Dinosaur, Colorado

Citizens in Dinosaur, Colorado passed several measures during the election including one to allow medical marijuana dispensaries in city limits. Measure 3A was passed by a vote of 102 for and 50 against. While marijuana is already legal in Colorado, having dispensary facilities near the border could affect eastern Utah because it simply brings access even closer than before. According to Vernal City Assistant Police Chief Keith Campbell, having medical marijuana facilities in Dinosaur will have an impact on eastern Utah. “It will clearly increase availability and convenience for those that choose to risk transporting and possessing for distribution or use purposes,” shares Campbell. “It will certainly result in an increase in arrests and prosecution.” At the same time, local law enforcement does not expect it to affect how patrols are conducted. “Marijuana is still illegal to possess in the state of Utah,” shares Uintah County Sheriff Lt. Brian Fletcher, “and we will continue to do drug interdiction and enforcement like we always have.”
