Local Firefighters Headed To New Mexico’s Cerro Pelado Fire

Local firefighters are headed out of state as wildfire season is getting an early start in New Mexico. The Uintah Fire District and the Lapoint/Tridell Department accepted the fire assignment to the Cerro Pelado Fire located 34 miles west/northwest of Sante Fe. The Cerro Pelado Fire started on April 22nd and as of Monday’s last report, remains zero percent contained, having burned 4688 acres. “The three fire fighters from Lapoint/Tridell and the brush truck left today and will be gone for 21 days,” shares the Uintah Fire District announcement. “New Mexico’s fire season has started early, and we are happy to send our fire fighters and resources to help out.”
