Funding for Basin Transit Authority in Uintah County for 2018 was among the items discussed at the joint City/County meeting last week. The Uintah Transportation Special Service District funded $170,000 dollars of the $190,000 dollars to operate the Uintah County bus system. Uintah County and City officials discussed the next steps and if the remaining amount needs funded. A group plans to visit with officials from the Uintah Basin Association of Governments to further discuss funding for BTA in Uintah County. Full funding of BTA has been unclear since Proposition 5 failed during November’s election with 41.15 percent of Uintah County voters casting ballots FOR the transportation tax that would have helped fund the bus transit system and 58.85 percent voting against the tax.
