Interactive Murals Making Debut in Downtown Vernal This Week

Local artists are putting their skills to work on a grand scale. An effort spearheaded by the Vernal Hospitality Committee is adding art to downtown in the form of interactive murals. The murals are dinosaur-themed and are aimed at creating photo opportunities  to encourage tourists and locals to get out of the car and walking around. “We have several local artists who are painting murals this week,” shares coordinator Becca Summers. “Deena Millecam is painting a giant mural in Cobble Rock Park as well as Jeff Johnson and his wife, Dee Dee. Chris Manwaring, the Uintah High School art teacher, will be painting the alleyway between The Quarry and the theatre with his students.” The project is a follow up on the suggestions made by Roger Brookes last year to increase tourism in the area. Thankfully, Sherman Williams is donating the paint supplies for the murals and Christofferson Welding, Inc. has supplied the lift. Head downtown if interested in seeing the art work in progress!
