A crash and high speed chase ended in a DUI arrest in Duchesne County last week. The Affidavit of Probable Cause reports that on October 7th, Officers responded to a report that a vehicle struck another vehicle at 700 North 537 East in Roosevelt. Upon arrival, Officers found Troy Johnson sitting in the driver's seat of the vehicle. Alcohol containers could be seen sitting in the cup holder and on the passenger seat. Troy's van was in contact with the vehicle parked behind it. The Officer asked Troy to step out of the vehicle for several minutes but he refused and eventually started the van and left, driving extremely recklessly up to 105 mph. Troy's vehicle tires were spiked, and after driving around Myton, he fled on foot. He was told to stop or the K9 would be sent but he didn’t listen. The K9 engaged him, at which point he was taken into custody. While interviewed, Troy stated he had been drinking and using Kratom during the day and had drank too much. Troy was the only person in the vehicle during the pursuit. 31-year-old Troy Michael Johnson is charged with 3rd Degree Felony Failure to Stop at Command of Police, as well as Misdemeanor DUI, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Reckless Driving, and Drinking Alcohol in the Vehicle.
