The High Desert Anglers Chapter of Trout Unlimited is fulfilling their mission of maintaining and improving opportunities for fly fishing in our area. Projects to improve and maintain trout fishing and increase outdoor opportunities includes a project at Calder Reservoir, where solar powered windmills were installed to put oxygen back in the lake so the fish do not die in the winter. Another project was installing boardwalks along the Green River that have been anchored in the bedrock. An upcoming project this fall will be 1.7 miles of Brush Creek restoration from Simplot to Red Fleet and the BLM will be improving the parking at the trail entry along the creek. The Chapter sponsors clean up along both sides of the Green River each year which will take place this year on August 13th. Two dump trucks of garbage are hauled away every year and the event includes prizes like ‘Most Unique Piece Of Garbage’ to keep it fun for the volunteers. In the words of the guides: “We have a beautiful area here and we want to keep it that way.” To get involved by sponsoring, volunteering, or joining the Chapter, call 435-790-7846.
