If you need some extra incentive to get out hiking and biking on the beautiful trails in Uintah County, the new #HealthRocks program could do the trick. Vernal Rocks has been a popular past time the last few years where people hunt for painted rocks and rehide them for others to find. Vernal City and the Active Healthy Lifestyles Committee has joined forces with Vernal Rocks for the #HealthRocks contest where rocks from local businesses have been hidden along popular trails and the finders of each rock will receive prizes. “We have hid 13 rocks in strategic locations throughout the Basin,” explains committee member Joel Brown. “They are all located in Uintah County and have a value of at least $25 per rock.” There will also be one Grand Prize rock worth $500 dollars cash! Locations to go rock hunting while hiking include Moonshine Arch, Doc’s Beach, Halfway Hollow, Uintah U, McCoy Flats, and the Flume Trail.
