It’s the 22nd year for a much loved and highly anticipated annual fall event. The Great Jensen Pumpkin Festival is going “Back to the Basics” this year and it’s time to be planning your own epic pumpkin display. Held each year on the last Saturday in October, the festival brings Halloween activities and sights for families to enjoy one night each year. The history of the event goes back to 1996 when the owners of Split Mountain Garden Center and their employees held a community event for showing off decorated pumpkins and having goodies around a bonfire. The event has grown over the years to become one of the Basin’s most attended events with many added activities and live music to set the tone. “The pumpkin displays are the ‘center of attention’ and the reason for this Festival to keep going,” shares event organizer Monica Farnsworth. “Every year a theme is picked but EVERY pumpkin carved, painted, or decorated is wanted and needed!” All families and organizations of every kind are encouraged to get involved and create a display.
