TriCounty Health Department wants the public to have the support they need to improve their health and reduce any risk or symptoms of diabetes in their life. Around 84 million or more than 1 in 3 American adults have prediabetes and 90 percent of those do not know they are prediabetic and at risk of developing type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and stroke. The National Diabetes Prevention Program is an in-person group where you can learn to eat smart, move more, feel great, and prevent or delay type 2 diabetes. The program includes 16 weekly in-person sessions, 6 monthly maintenance sessions, vouchers for fresh produce, mentoring for a year, and a group support system, as well as access to other programs and incentives through the health department. “Small incremental changes are what make lasting changes in our lives,” shares TriCounty Health Certified Lifestyle Coach Daniel Jackson. “[This program] is designed to make small changes in our lifestyle that will give us the health that we need.” The first session starts September 10th and the second session starts January 14th. For more information or to register, call Jackson at 435-247-1168.
