Give’m Health: Car Seat Safety

by | Nov 2, 2022 | News | 0 comments

TriCounty Health Department’s Give’m Health message this week is focused on car seat
safety.

Did you know that correctly used child safety seats can reduce the risk of death by
as much as 71 percent for infants, 54 percent for toddlers, and 45 percent for children 4 to
8 years old? Health Educator Ashley Linschoten (Lin-Show-Ten) visited the Evans
Family Media radio studios this week to talk about car seat safety and what Uintah Basin
residents need to know. The health department offers free car seat checks by certified
technicians to ensure the child’s seat is fitted and installed correctly. When considering
what car seat to get, Linschoten says it is important to always consider the maturity of the
child and whether or not they will keep the seat belt in place and buckled. Finally,
Linschoten emphasized the importance of getting a car seat that has been crash tested and
has safety features rather than one from a discounted third party website. The health
department offers reduced-cost seats to qualified individuals so you can get all the quality
for a more affordable price. For more information, visit www.tricountyhealth.com.
