The Uintah Basin Youth Chamber Orchestra has an exciting concert in store
this Saturday night
and Director Brad Vanfleet has more than a few reasons you’ll want to be there. “This concert is exciting,” explains Vanfleet. “They are playing a piece my own directors growing up never considered. We are performing the 3rd movement from Dvorak’s 9th symphony, the famous “New World Symphony”. It is not only challenging but also beautiful and intense with plenty of interesting contrast. Even for those that won’t recognize it, they will think ‘what a cool piece’.” The youth orchestra is also playing ‘Somewhere Out There’ from the beloved children’s movie

An American Tail

, which Vanfleet says is a rare piece of music that has been out of print for many years. “It is as beautiful of music as you would expect,” shares Vanfleet, “especially if you grew up watching the movie as a kid. It will take you back.” While there are more classical pieces the youth will perform, Vanfleet says the Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 is another that will bring back memories, this time for anyone who watched
Tom and Jerry
cartoons on Saturday mornings. Don’t miss the Uintah Basin Youth Chamber Orchestra in concert
Saturday, February 2nd at 7:00pm
at the Vernal Middle School. Tickets are $5 at the door and students are free.
