Eagle View Elementary has enjoyed learning and growth so far this school year. 2018-2019 started with Chris Jones becoming the new principal after serving as vice-principal and Don Heath stepping in as vice-principal. Eagle View was one of three schools in the state to receive a $100,000 fitness center from the National Foundation for Governors’ Fitness Councils. The HOPE squad is focusing on character education. Each month has a theme, such as Respect, Gratitude, or Generosity. In November, each student got a small journal to go with the theme of Gratitude. Every afternoon, an announcement came over the intercom and students wrote in their journals. While focusing on generosity in December, the school raised over $1,700 during Chuck-Your-Change to purchase blankets, socks, and crossword puzzles for 120 seniors at the Ute Tribe Senior Center and the Villa Senior Center right before Christmas break. “The benefits of focusing on creating values and improving character are numerous and go beyond the walls of the school,” says Kandice Searle, the School Counselor/Social Worker. “Adding in education on how to be a good person and a contributing member of society helps complete the school mission statement which is, “Together we will be Safe, Respectful, Responsible, and Successful!”
