It’s been one year since the Vernal Regional Airport switched to service with SkyWest under the United brand and it’s been onward and upward in that short time. The Airport announced on Wednesday that in those 12 months, over 23,500 passengers have flown in and out of Vernal, reaching new levels for air travel for the Uinta Basin. “The service that Skywest has provided has been a great success for us and we will continue to work to grow the service here in Vernal,” shares airport manager Doug Brown. “There are lots of great things to come and we appreciate the community’s support and help in building the market here in Vernal.” Brown says the airport is doing a water mitigation project this summer to remedy some water issues at the airport. They are also currently focused on purchasing a new runway sweeper for winter operations and over the next 12 to 18 months the airport will be focusing on its Master Plan.
