The Uintah School Board approved last month a study to explore the possibility of closing Uintah Middle School at the end of this school year and the first public comment opportunity is happening this week during the regularly scheduled school board meeting on October 7th at the District Office in Naples at 6pm. Friday’s Weekly District Update shared that “an update on the Uintah Middle School Closure and Middle School Reorganization Study will be discussed during the Informational Items portion of Wednesday’s business meeting. Board members will take public comment as part of the discussion; however, they aren’t voting on the issue. A vote is expected to take place during a special business meeting on Tuesday, December 22nd, following more than 90 days of review and public comment. Information about the UMS Closure and Middle School Reorganization Study can be found on the district website.” The Wednesday meeting agenda is posted on the District’s public meeting portal and a Zoom link is included in the agenda for those unable to attend in person. Comments are usually allowed through Zoom as long as technical issues do not arise.
