Executive Director Of 7 County Infrastructure Coalition Announces Retirement

Mike McKee, the Executive Director of the 7 County Infrastructure Coalition, has announced his retirement. While McKee has been with the Coalition since its inception, he says he has no worries about the organization moving into the future without him as well as the Coalition’s current projects, including the Uinta Basin Railway. McKee says the railway is close to the finish line and the Coalition is currently advertising for his position and could have a replacement within weeks. Not surprisingly, retirement for McKee won’t include much sitting around or slowing down. He and his wife have submitted the paperwork to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and are now waiting to hear where in the world they will be called to. “This is a new chapter in our life,” says McKee. “It’s an opportunity to be able to go and hopefully just be able to serve and do a little bit of good.” McKee emphasized that he loves the communities and people of the Uintah Basin and he has thoroughly enjoyed his experiences in public service. McKee served twice on the school board, multiple terms as Uintah County Commissioner and on committees and boards, including 6 years on the UBATC board, before accepting the position in 2017 as the Executive Director of the 7 County Infrastructure Coalition. McKee’s retirement will be effective May 1st.
