A valuable opportunity for local educators was a huge success on Saturday. The 2nd Annual Uintah Basin Education Summit had over 230 people registered for the event in advance and more that showed up on Saturday. The event received high praise around the state after its success last year. The Vernal Area Chamber’s Education Committee coordinated with the Duchesne County and Uintah School Districts, as well as USU and UBATC, to create the event that provides continuing education for local teachers and administrators. Those that attended the Saturday event got in free of charge and received 6 re-licensure credits. “The conference was absolutely wonderful,” shares Naples Elementary teacher Carlisa(Car-Lissa) Hager. “The keynote speaker Brad Barton was so inspirational and uplifting.” Barton spoke in detail about the difficulties he had growing up, feeling misunderstood and underestimated. It just took one educator mentoring him and inspiring him to go after his dreams to change the course of his life. All who attended walked away from the Education Summit equipped with new knowledge and re-licensure credits that were extremely easy on the wallet.
