Echo Park Campground Temporarily Closes

While our national parks provide us with some great escapism to the outdoors that does not mean that nature doesn’t have it’s own troubles. Dinosaur National Park is dealing with a highly invasive annual species of plant called cheatgrass that has become the dominant species into the Echo Park area of the Monument.. It is native to Eurasia and outcompetes native species and significantly changes fire regimes to be more frequent and intense. In the first phase of the three year project, Echo Park Campground will be closed temporarily from Wednesday, September 30th at 10am until Thursday, October 1st at noon, so that a herbicide can be sprayed. The project will treat up to 60 acres so that native grasslands can be restored.
