DWR Proposes Changes To Elk Hunting; Local Public Comment Encouraged

by | Oct 28, 2022 | News | 0 comments

The Division of Wildlife Resources is proposing big changes to elk hunting in the state and local public comment is encouraged. “The major theme for the elk plan committee — and the resulting proposed plan — has been to increase elk hunting opportunity, while maintaining quality, through increased challenge and creativity,” explains Big Game Coordinator Dax Mangus. “The recommended changes are all related and provide synergy to the overall management plan, with the general-season hunt changes providing additional opportunities and the limited-entry changes helping maintain the quality of the hunt.”

Those interested are encouraged to read the proposals at www.wildlife.utah.gov. The public comment period is now open and comments submitted within the timeframes will be shared with the RAC and wildlife board members. Members of the public can choose to either watch the meetings online or attend in person. If you wish to comment during the meeting, you should attend in person.

The Northeastern Utah RAC meeting will be held November 17th at 6:30pm in the Wildlife Resources Conference Room  of the DWR Vernal Office at 318 North Vernal Avenue. Online comments must be submitted by November 10th.
