A fire that started Wednesday in Rio Blanco County is still at 0 percent containment. According to the Sunday report from the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office, the Douglas Fire is located about 20 miles southeast of Rangely in the Douglas Creek area. Rio Blanco County Road 28 and 128 have been closed as a result. The BLM and Rangely Fire Department responded to the initial attack and additional crews have been ordered but resources are scarce due to other wildland fires. A smoke advisory was issued as the wildfire smoke in western Colorado joined with smoke from California wildfires has created impacts throughout the region. Those especially sensitive to the smoke are encouraged to take precautions.
