Dollar Tree Cashier In Rock Springs Charged After Pepper Spraying Customer

A Dollar Tree cashier in Rock Springs, Wyoming, is facing a battery charge after pepper-spraying her father’s girlfriend during a confrontation in the store. Cowboy State Daily reported that 18-year-old Nevaeh Sanders was working behind the counter when her father and his girlfriend came into the store and, according to Sanders, the girlfriend was speaking disrespectfully. When Sanders told the woman to be respectful, the woman said she didn’t care and would drag the girl over the counter. Sanders said she warned that she would pepper-spray the woman and the woman allegedly replied with, “I dare you.” By her own report, Sanders then sprayed the woman in the face. The affidavit stated that there was no aggressive forward movement, lunging, or raised fists that would indicate an imminent physical assault Sanders would need to defend against. The incident took place in June and following police investigation, including pulling the video footage, Sanders received a criminal summons to answer to the charge in court this week.
