Efforts from the Recreational Aviation Foundation have succeeded in an airstrip in Daggett County that has been closed for nearly 3 decades getting the green light.
“Daggett County Commission just recently approved both the Taylor Flat Airstrip [Right Of Way] lease agreement with the BLM, and the application for an FAA identifier for Utah’s Taylor Flat Airstrip,” announced RAF Utah Liaison Wendy Lessig.
The RAF announcement shared that Taylor Flat, located in the northeast corner of Utah, is managed by the BLM’s Vernal Field Office. They are working to reopen the 2,500 by 70 foot airstrip in spring of 2026. They also noted that the dry camping area is within a quarter mile of the Green River.
“Special thanks to Daggett County for their willingness to handle and record the airstrip Right Of Way and allow pilots to enjoy this beautiful airstrip,” Lessig said.
