A Craig, Colorado, man is facing felony charges for a DUI arrest this fall. According to the Probable Cause Statement, 51-year-old Francisco Alverez Salas was the driver of a vehicle observed weaving back and forth within its lane of travel. An officer matched the vehicle with an ‘Attempt to Locate’ call that had come in about a vehicle swerving on the roadway. The officer initiated a stop and observed that the driver had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and the odor of alcohol emanated from the vehicle. Salas failed the Horizontal Gaze test and was found to be unsafe to operate a motor vehicle. A search of the vehicle found a partially full container of alcohol that was still cold to the touch. It was also found that Salas did not have a driver’s licence and had at least 2 prior DUI convictions within the last 10 years. He is charged with 3rd Degree Felony Driving Under the Influence and Misdemeanor Drinking Alcohol in a Vehicle.
