The Maeser fire substation will be a reality in 2017. According to Jeremy Raymond, Director of the Uintah Fire Suppression Special Service District, construction on the substation will begin on April 1st, weather permitting. The Uintah Fire Suppression Special Service District selected Brett Woods Construction out of the bids submitted. The total bid for Brett Woods Construction was $398,000 dollars. This fall, the Uintah County Commission committed the remaining funds needed to proceed with the project. The Community Impact Board had previously awarded the project $239,000 dollars in grant funding and Uintah County committed $150,000 dollars. A Maeser substation could save residents as much as a quarter million dollars on insurance premiums alone while lowering response time and improving safety for the entire area including Dry Fork Canyon. Raymond says the project is expected to be complete by July 1st.
