Christmas Tree Permits For Sale

by | Oct 31, 2019 | News | 0 comments

Christmas is around the corner and all the wonderful family traditions are showing up on the calendar. One such tradition is going into the forest and cutting down your own Christmas tree and permits will soon be going on sale. Ashley National Forest reminds people that no cutting is permitted within 200 feet of lakes and streams, roads, campgrounds, picnic areas, administrative sites, summer home areas, or in designated closed areas laid out on tree cutting maps. Be sure to cut a tree close to the ground so that no more than six inches of the stump is above the ground. Tree topping is absolutely not allowed. Secure your permit to the tree before leaving the cutting area. Christmas tree permits will go on sale November 15th for $15.00 dollars, with a limit of one tree per household. For more information, contact the Ashley National Forest at 435-789-1181.
