Utah State Senate District 26 includes Daggett, Duchesne, Uintah, Summit, and Wasatch Counties. While four of the six candidates that have declared their intent to gather signatures in District 26 come from Uintah and Duchesne Counties, that number has now dropped to two. Kyle Snow of Duchesne County confirmed by phone that his initial plans to run in the District 26 race have changed and he is no longer gathering signatures. On Monday, Joni Crane of Uintah County announced that she has learned that a law change affecting residency requirements makes her ineligible to run for State Senate for another year and a half. Crane explained that she moved to Texas for a short time and while she still owned a home and business in Utah and continued paying taxes in District 12, she voted while in Texas which severed her residency. Crane expressed her gratitude for the support she had received so far and says she will continue to focus on giving her best efforts as the Vice Chair of the Utah Republican Party. Ronald Winterton from Duchesne County and Brian Gorum from Uintah County remain in the race.
