Thursday was an exciting day for students at Centennial Elementary in Roosevelt as they learned about the Champion Schools 34 education program by some very special guests. Principal Smith led the school assembly where a Question/Answer session was held with Olympian Ethan Cepuran and Paraclimber and Future Paralympian Daliya Hansen. Utah 2034 Education Committee Chair Amy Garff (with Ken Garff for Good) was also there, getting students excited about reading while holding the Olympic Torch she ran as Torchbearer during the Milano Cortina Olympic Games 2026. This is a cause she wholly believes in. “By bringing the values of the Olympic and Paralympic Movement into our classrooms, we can help students understand that being a champion isn’t just about what happens on the playing field – it’s about showing up, working hard, respecting others, persevering through challenges, and believing in what you’re capable of,” said Amy Garff, Utah 2034 Education Committee chair. “We want every student to see themselves as a champion and recognize the role they can play in making their classroom and school stronger.”
