KNEU 1250Firefighters continued to make headway toward containment of the Pine Ridge Fire on Monday, shares Utah Fire Info. The fire did not consume any new acres on Monday and crews achieved 50 percent containment, reports Incident Commander Jason Porter. Full containment is expected by the end of Thursday’s shift. “Smoke will be visible for the next few weeks from the Sawtooth Ridge area,” shares Utah Fire Info.
The list of abuse and violations tied to the Daggett County Jail scandal are outlined in a report from the Department of Corrections. Deseret News shares that the final report goes into detail about misbehavior of jail staff based on interviews with employees and inmates as well as surveillance video and using the internal memory device on the Taser used.
Travelers and visitors in and around Strawberry Reservoir on Monday witnessed an amazing sight. National Weather Service reports that what was likely a non-supercell landspout tornado briefly touched down at Strawberry Reservoir at around 1:10pm. Thankfully there were no reports of damage or injuries.

Crews continue to battle a wildfire in the Pine Ridge area of Deep Creek/Dry Fork. According to UtahFireInfo.gov, the Pine Ridge Fire was called in at 1:03pm Saturday afternoon on private and BLM land 18 miles northwest of Vernal.

A fire in Uintah County resulted in the total loss of one structure. According to UintahCounty Fire Marshal Jeremy Raymond, the fire occurred Thursday afternoon. Vernal FireDepartment responded to the call at 3000 North Vernal Avenue and quickly contained theblaze.

The Ute Tribe announced Tuesday that a historic agreement has been reached betweenthe Tribe and the townsite of Myton regarding joint marketing of water in the UintaBasin. According to the press release dated May 22nd, the agreement provides thatMyton and the Tribe will jointly market water resources to energy developers in need ofwater for oil and gas development activities on and near the Uintah and OurayReservation.
