KNEU 1250Our Uintah County Library is always in pursuit of tools and opportunities to enhance the lives of residents of the Basin. To continue in their goals of offering such opportunities, the library recently announced that they have entered into a partnership with Recorded Books to offer the area a program called Universal Class.
According to the Federal Register the Forest Service is looking to revise the Land Management Plan (Forest Plan) for the Ashley National Forest and are wanting to prepare an environmental impact statement. The reason for the revision, according to the National Forest Management Act, is that forest plan should be revised on a 10 to 15-year cycle and the current one is 30 years old and has been amended 24 times.

TriCounty Health Department provided the following update on Tuesday: The bloom at Starvation Reservoir appears to be dispersing and is no longer concentrated at the main boat ramp. It has not affected the drinking water coming from the treatment plant.

Rio Grande Pacific Corporation announced on Monday that they have hired rail industry veteran Mark Hemphill to lead the development and construction of the Uinta Basin Railway project. According to the news release, Hemphill has more than 38 years of industry experience and has served as the project’s consultant, leading the studies of the railway since 2014.

The Utah Department of Health made their own announcement this week following Friday’s report from the CDC and FDA that serious lung illnesses are being caused by e-cigarettes and vaping. “Public health agencies and health care providers in Utah are investigating several cases of severe lung disease in people who vape nicotine or THC products,” shares the Utah Department of Health. “As of Monday, September 9th, 35 cases associated with vaping nicotine, THC, or both have been reported in Utah, with an additional 12 potential cases being investigated.
