TONIGHT: Experience Hypno Hick, Comedy Hypnotist, at Uintah High School

If your family has needed a fun night out you are definitely in luck! Uintah County 4-H and Uintah High FFA are hosting a night of family friendly entertainment tonight at Uintah High School. Hypno Hick is a comedy hypnotist with a show appropriate for all ages. Hypno Hick has been out in the Uintah Basin before leaving crowds rolling in the aisles. All the proceeds from tonight’s event will go to Uintah FFA and the Uintah County 4-H program. Tickets are $5 per person or $20 for a family of 5. The show starts at 7:00 pm.

Vernal Man Being Held on No Bail After Over 23,000 Child Porn Files Found

A Vernal man has been arrested on charges related to child pornography following an investigation by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. According to the Probable Cause Statement and Request for Arrest Warrant, 31-year-old Andrew Derek Walden was identified as the internet subscriber using a peer-to-peer network to share child pornography. On February 19th, a residential search warrant was executed at his Vernal residence and Walden was found to be the sole occupant of the apartment.

Juvenile in Custody Following Fire at Uintah Middle School on Tuesday

A juvenile is in custody after fire was set at the Uintah Middle School on Tuesday afternoon. According to Vernal Police, Central Dispatch received a 911 call at 2:10pm on February 25th regarding a fire at UMS. “Fire, EMS, and Law Enforcement were dispatched to the scene,” shares Vernal Police. “The school was evacuated. Due to the fact that school was nearly out for the day, students were instructed to end their day and travel home as planned.”

Search and Rescue Called Out in Search of Missing/Runaway Juveniles

UPDATE: FOUND SAFE Search and Rescue have been called out in the search for three juveniles reported as missing/runaway in Duchesne County. According to the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office, three teenage girls walked away from Cedar Ridge Academy, a private residential treatment center for youth, near Roosevelt early Monday morning at about 1am.

Name Released on Sunday’s Fatal Accident in Duchesne County

Utah Highway Patrol has released the name of the man killed in a single vehicle accident in Duchesne County on Sunday. 77-year-old Glen E. Heuser of Fruitland was the sole occupant of the vehicle when the accident occured. According to Utah Highway Patrol, the accident took place at 11:30am on Sunday on Highway 40 at mile marker 91.4. “The vehicle drove off of the right shoulder, straightening a curve, and lost control and rolled back onto the highway where the pickup truck came to rest blocking the eastbound and one of the westbound travel lanes,” shares Utah Highway Patrol.

Graphic Storytelling Club Preparing Kids to Make Comics

The Uintah County Library has quietly introduced a Graphic Storytelling Club. The club helps members learn skills that surround graphic storytelling, such as basic art principles, character design, storytelling techniques and world building. The club hopes to explore illustration, graphic design, how to storyboard, and of course comic books. In fact, for the next month, the club is helping members to prepare for the upcoming 2nd annual Uintah County Comic Expo, an amateur comic book convention where kids can make a comic book and sell it.

Community ´Lamb of God´ Presentation a Local Labor of Love

Community members from Uintah and Duchesne Counties have come together practicing countless hours in preparing to present Rob Gardner´s ´Lamb of God´, a musical Easter Oratorio. This is the second year for this production that was started by locals Diana Eddington, Lynne Smith, and Lana Muir. Britany Hawley took the reigns to help these women continue the community presentation again this year. The choir, orchestra, and soloists are all local musicians, many traveling from the outskirts of the Uintah Basin to rehearse weekly in Roosevelt.

Duchesne County Fatal Crash on Sunday

A single vehicle accident claimed the life of a Fruitland man on Sunday in Duchesne County. Attempted Murder and Kidnapping Charges for Domestic Violence Events

A Ballard man is facing a long list of charges including Felony Attempted Murder, Kidnapping, Aggravated Assault, Burglary and Violation of a Protective Order following an alleged series of domestic violence events on Wednesday. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause filed in 8th District Court, at approximately 9:30pm on February 19th 57-year-old William John Arnold arrived at the residence of a woman he had a relationship history with and who has a protective order against him. Arnold was “standing in the doorway yelling at her about a title for a vehicle.”
