Retired Local K9 'Arctos' Needs Help Getting Back On Her Feet

A retired local K9 is in need of some help. Arctos is an 8-year-old German Shepard. She retired from the Naples Police Department on March 4th, 2019, after working 3 years as a dual purpose K9. Arctos has enjoyed family life since her retirement but misfortune recently struck when she was diagnosed with Autoimmune Mediated Polyarthritis that has attacked her front wrists and unfortunately there is no cure.

Remembering Fallen Marine Sgt. Daniel Gurr

August 5th may be just another day for some but for many in the Uintah Basin this date is remembered each year as the day a local hero was killed in action. On August 5th, 2011, Sgt. Daniel Gurr was fatally shot while on patrol in Afghanistan as a member of the United States Marine Corp.

Vernal Duck Poaching Case Results in License Suspension

A Vernal man was on a short list of Utahns that had their hunting or fishing licenses suspended this summer during a state license suspension hearing. The Vernal man was previously convicted in Uintah County Justice Court of wanton destruction of protected wildlife, allowing protected wildlife to waste or spoil and trespassing during a wildlife-related activity.

Alive After Five Finale Tonight on Uintah County Library Park Stage

The talents of the Uintah Basin have been on full display for the last few weeks as Alive After Five has been entertaining crowds every Thursday. Now the contest has reached the final stage with the final four contestants: Des Rimer, Dan Charlee Fabrizio Sanders, Savanna Young, and Kaylee Zelaya, competing for the $1000 dollar 1st place prize.

Filling out the Census online is quick and quite easy but if you’d like a little help why not combine it with a fun night out. A Census booth is set up at the Duchesne County Fair this week and trained Census workers are available to help visitors complete their 2020 Census online.
