KNEU 1250The East Fork Fire continues to burn and those planning hunting trips in the Ashley National Forest need to know that access is now restricted to part of a big game hunting unit.
Donations are always appreciated at Uintah Basin Food Pantries. Recently Kim Lamb, the Community Services Director for the Uintah Basin Association of Governments, made a presentation about the Uintah Basin’s Food Pantries during the Vernal Chamber luncheon.
The United States has about 6.7 million people affected by chronic wounds, that is 1 in 4 family members with an expected rise of 2% annually over the next decade. Luckily we live by the Uintah Basin Healthcare’s Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine clinic.
The Uintah Basin is always appreciative of the local firefighters as well as those that travel to help battle wildfires. What might not be known is how far some of these firefighters travel. Our local East Fork Fire has almost 290 firefighters helping contain the blaze.
Uintah County is getting the word out as the 2020 General Election approaches. This week Uintah County shared the following: All active registered voters will be mailed a ballot on October 13th. Those wishing to vote must register by October 23rd. This can be done and voter registration information can be checked at vote.utah.gov or by calling the Clerk-Auditor’s Office.
The economic future of the Uintah Basin is looking very bright thanks to the prospect of the proposed Uinta Basin Railway. Rio Grande Pacific Senior Vice President Mark Hemphill and 7 County Infrastructure Coalition Executive Director Mike McKee joined Steve Evans for an interview on Newstalk AM920 KVEL and were beyond optimistic about the project and its potential to provide stability to the Uintah Basin economy.
Things are not always what they seem. Vernal City Police Department utilized social media and asked for the public’s assistance on Monday morning in identifying a man in some security photos. The man is pictured setting something down in a parking lot that then starts on fire. Vernal PD did not offer any context to the photos but asked that anyone able to help identify the man or vehicle to please contact them.
September 30th marks the last day individuals are able to fill out the Census and the public is being reminded that it will have a huge impact on the counties and towns in the Uintah Basin. Roosevelt City highlighted three specific things that the Census data is used for every single day.
Many know that ‘America’s Got Talent’ is down to its final 10 contestants and a winner will soon be declared. What they might not know is that a competitor with ties to the Uintah Basin has a shot at winning it all. Kenadi Dodds and her family might live in Logan but Kenadi has been performing for many summers at Uintah Basin events while staying with her grandparents.

An ATV accident in Uintah County resulted in a woman’s death early Sunday morning. The Uintah County Sheriff’s Office released the following: A 25 year old Ogden woman died early [Sunday] morning in a side-by-side crash near Iron Springs in Uintah County. Emergency personnel were dispatched to Red Cloud Loop Road near Iron Springs at approximately 1:30 a.m.
A missing hiker’s body was located on Sunday after several days of searching. 25-year-old Kyle S. Wimpenny was declared a missing person last week after last being seen at his Boise, Idaho home on Sunday, September 13th. Kyle had planned to backpack to Kings Peak, located in Duchesne County in the High Uintas Wilderness Area, and was expected to return home by Wednesday, September 16th.
