Survivors 2020 Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign
It is estimated that in 2020 there are around 276,480 new cases of invasive breast cancer that will be diagnosed in women. Currently there are more then 3.5 million breast cancer survivors. To help raise awareness of breast cancer in the Uintah Basin, six local survivors have been selected to be featured as part of the “Admire the Survivors” campaign.
New Round of Self Help Housing Projects
The home of your dreams is just some sweat equity away. The Uintah Basin Association of Governments has a program entitled Self Help Housing that involves local families helping each build their homes. Groups are formulated and qualified by UBAOG and USDA/Rural Development, which utilizes a USDA Rural Development Direct Loan for the program participants.
Fall Festival at Old Mill Park
Roosevelt Business Alliance would like to remind everyone that today is the Fall Festival. This family friendly event goes from 3pm to 5pm at the Old Mill Park in Roosevelt. The event features face painting, a fishpond, a photo station and more. A highlight will be the pumpkin decorating contest.
Uintah Recreation Center Lap Pool Now Open
It’s been a month since the Uintah Recreation Center pool was closed for annual maintenance and other repairs. The Rec District announced that the lap pool is now open as of Monday but the repairs on the leisure pool are still underway. They are hoping it will be filled and ready for swimmers on Thursday. For those that have been waiting for swim lessons it is expected that they will begin on Thursday.

It is Fire Prevention Week 2020, a time to bring awareness to the simple precautions all can take to help prevent fire-related injury and death. Uintah County Fire Marshal Jeremy Raymond says that this is an important time every year to assess our homes to improve fire safety.

An opportunity to get your flu shot is available today and tomorrow at locations throughout northeastern Utah. TriCounty Health Department is hosting their annual Flu Shoot Out October 7th and 8th at locations in Uintah County, Daggett County, and two locations in Duchesne County.
Uintah School Board Candidates Answer Questions at Vernal Chamber Luncheon
The Vernal Chamber invited the Uintah School Board candidates to their Tuesday luncheon to introduce themselves and answer questions. Candidates for District 4 covering northwest Uintah County included Tawnya McKee and incumbent Sarah Lamb.
6th Annual Sub For Seniors Accepting Donations to Brighten Holidays for Elderly
Not everyone catches the Christmas spirit during October but there’s a special cause worth making an exception for. Donations are now being collected for the purpose of brightening the holidays for local elderly community members. “Thank you to all of those who have participated in the past years to help make Christmas a little brighter for our seniors!” shares organizer Tiffany Henline.
Wave of Light Event for Local Families That Have Lost a Child
A local mother is honoring and remembering her son in a special way all while inviting other local families who have experienced the loss of a child to join her. The 1st annual Wave of Light Event is being held October 15th at 7pm at the Freestone Walking Park in Vernal.
High Winds Increase Fire Activity on East Fork Fire
Red Flag conditions continue to increase activity on the East Fork Fire. Ashley National Forest shared on Monday that high winds associated with the Red Flag Warning are literally fueling the flames. “Fire is continuing to progress south towards Stillwater Dam and backing down to the water’s edge,” shared Operations Section Chief Heather McRae on Monday.
Roosevelt City Accepting Nominations of Those Who Go the Extra Mile

November 1st is Extra Mile Day and Roosevelt City wants to honor these wonderful individuals.
