The statewide face mask mandate was lifted in Utah on Saturday, April 10th, prompting further conversation and resistance of continued mask use in schools.
The local COVID-19 Transmission Index levels are Uintah and Duchesne County at the Moderate Level and Daggett County at the Low Level. According to Thursday’s press release, Uintah County’s 7-day average percent positivity was 5 percent and there were 51 cases in the past 14 days.

In the spring of 2019, the last of the charges in 8th District Court filed against a Duchesne County man were dropped and now the man is seeking damages. Charges were filed in May of 2018 against 49-year-old Darin Ace Thomas including two 1st Degree Felony charges of Criminal Conspiracy, two 3rd Degree Felony charges of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, one 3rd Degree Felony charge of Criminal Conspiracy, and one Misdemeanor charge of Sexual Solicitation.

The Rifle Police Department shared the following on Wednesday: Two separate overdoses occurred in Rifle in the early morning hours of April 7th, and it appears that both subjects used what they believed to be heroin. Both patients were provided multiple doses of Narcan on scene, and were subsequently transported to Grand River Hospital by Colorado River Fire Rescue.
