KNEU 1250Recovery from the job losses and disruption caused by the pandemic has varied greatly from state to state but Utah has been a standout in the recovery process. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Utah’s job losses from February 2020 to April 2020 for the state of Utah was at 8.9%, the lowest of all the states.
Quagga mussels are an invasive species to Utah waters. They are notorious for plugging water lines, even those that are large in diameter, remove plankton( a huge source of food for the local fish) from the water, and damaging boat engines when they get into the cooling system.

Ashley National Forest announced that firewood permits started going on sale on June 1st and will be sold until December 20th. Permits can be picked up at the Ashley National Forest offices in Duchesne, Manila, or Vernal. The following vendors also have permits for sale.
The Uintah County Sheriff’s Office announced on Tuesday a sad conclusion to the search for the missing Uintah County teen. “At approximately 2:30 p.m. today,” shared the Sheriff’s Office, “a Uintah County Search and Rescue team located the body of Max Stubbs near his parked vehicle in a remote area south of Jensen.
Roosevelt City has found a replacement for their city manager position and they didn’t have to go far to find him. Joshua Bake signed the contract during the Roosevelt City Council meeting on Tuesday. Bake is coming from Naples City where he has served as the city manager since 2014.

Roosevelt City Council voted Tuesday night and selected Beau Hancock to fill the vacant city council seat. Hancock was among a group of applicants that were interviewed by the council during Tuesday’s meeting.

A crash involving a semi and an RV at Strawberry Reservoir added to the Memorial holiday travel delays on Monday but thankfully no one was seriously hurt. UDOT Traffic announced the travel alert just after noon of the accident that took place near milepost 37 on Highway 40.
The lives of Americans lost or fallen in war were honored and remembered on Monday during Memorial Day services hosted by American Legion Posts in the Uintah Basin. American Legion Post 11 lowered the flags at the Uintah County war memorials at 8am on Monday and then held a ceremony at noon that ended with the flags being raised to full staff.
