KNEU 1250TriCounty Health Director Kirk Benge visited the KLCY studio this week for this week’s Give’m Health segment. Unfortunately, COVID-19 related hospitalizations have continued to increase and just recently hit a new high with 16 people in the hospital on a single day due to COVID-19.
The ‘BIA Forestry and Wildland Fire – Uintah and Ouray Agency’ reported a fire on Tuesday at Hill Creek on the Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation. “The East Desolation Fire was discovered [Tuesday] morning burning west of Moonwater Point, east of the Green River and north of Bluebell Creek.”
In an effort to help restore native Colorado River cutthroat trout, the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources will be treating several streams in the High Uintas. DWR biologists treat the streams with low quantities of rotenone, a natural respiratory toxin to fish but perfectly safe for people, pets, and other wildlife.
The Uintah Animal Control and Shelter Special Service District provided a report on Monday of their July services provided. Animal Control responded to 298 calls for service for July 2021.
The Uintah Basin has many talented singers and performers and Danicia Christensen is bringing an idea to life that will provide more opportunities for them, including herself, to share their talents and entertain. “Broadway in the Basin came about as a desire to improve the quality of life in Vernal,” shares Christensen.
It's a sad ending to a search that took place on Monday at Strawberry Reservoir. According to the Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office, 9-1-1 received a call reporting an overdue party around noon. “The caller reported that her husband had spent the night on his boat on Strawberry Reservoir,” shares the Sheriff’s Office.
In an effort to help the local community, Skyview Excavation and Grading Inc has issued a press release to remind the public that Mountain Home Road will be closed for two weeks.
The Bureau of Land Management distributed a press release over the weekend that it has issued a decision on approximately 1,600 miles of open and limited travel designations for roads and trails across approximately 370,000 acres of BLM-administered land northwest of Craig in Moffat County.
While it is understandable that there is concern about water releases from Flaming Gorge to support areas downstream, the releases are not as much as some people think. Flaming Gorge Resort recently shared that they have had visitors under the impression that Flaming Gorge has dropped 30 plus feet with the releases to support Lake Powell but that in fact Flaming Gorge is only expected to drop a total of 6 feet by October.
Dinosaur National Monument doesn't want you to miss the "best meteor shower of the year!" The Perseid Meteor Shower peaks for our area on the night of August 11th until about 5am on August 12th. “Thanks to the Moon setting early, these will likely be the brightest Perseids for several years,” shares Dinosaur National Monument.
Uintah County continues to get attention for its outdoor offerings with another shout out, this time for Red Fleet Reservoir.
Dinosaur National Monument wants visitors to know that there has been an increase in recent sightings of mountain lions. “Dinosaur National Monument is home to a healthy mountain lion population, but they are not often seen, especially in the areas with most visitors,” shares the Monument’s announcement.
