Conservation pools are one tool the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources is using to help fish during the drought, including here in the Uintah Basin. A “conservation pool” refers to water rights the DWR has purchased in order to keep water levels in reservoirs at a level sufficient to preserve the fishery.
Ashley Regional Medical Center has a history of ups and downs when it comes to keeping Doctors on staff for women’s health services so naturally the hospital was excited on Monday to announce that Brian Eades, MD, has joined its staff and will be offering women’s health services to patients throughout the Basin. The Uintah County Sheriff’s Office has provided details on the high speed chase last week that ended in two people arrested: On Thursday, September 30th, an off-duty Uintah County Sheriff’s Deputy saw two wanted subjects, identified as 25 year-old Tyson Brown and 29 year-old Rachelle Murray at a residence in Jensen.
The best wildfire equipment can be expensive and hard to come by. Thankfully, two local businesses have made the purchase possible for a much needed and appreciated fire truck. The Uintah Fire District announced gratitude this month toward Finley Resources and Uinta Wax for the monetary donation making it possible to obtain the fire truck.
Extra construction time was put in over the weekend on the Starvation Bridge project as UDOT worked to expedite completion of the project. “Work activities to place the new surface on the bridge deck are nearing completion,” shares UDOT.

Waterfowl hunting season has started and the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources has some reminders and tips. Waterfowl hunts are opening to anyone with a Utah hunting license (with the exception of swans that require a permit). Note though that individuals are also required to have a Harvest Information Program (HIP) number to hunt any waterfowl in Utah, and a federal duck stamp if you are over the age of 15.
