A sentencing hearing continued late this week in a case of double vehicular homicide that resulted in the death of a one-year-old and her 62-year-old grandmother on March 10th in Green River, Wyoming. Baby Stella Doak and her grandma Debra DeVries were at home when 68-year-old George Maestas drove his vehicle into the residence resulting in their death and the serious injury of another adult in the home.
A meeting aimed at public discussion and education on Proposition 5 is coming up. Proposition 5 asks voters to decide if Uintah County shall be authorized to impose a quarter of one percent sales tax, which is the equivalent of 1 cent for every $4 dollars spent, for the purpose of transportation services such as roads, traffic, pedestrian safety, public transit and non-motorized transportation.
Construction has been ongoing on the Vernal Regional Airport runway project . The paving portion of the project is now complete which is considered a major milestone in the project. The completion of the runway is considered a crucial part in upgrading local air service to support growth in the local economy.
